LEED – Linking Education and Economic Development, partners with the Los Rios Community College District’s Business and Economic Development Center to present CONVERGENCE 2008. This breakfast series is held the first Friday of March, June, September and December. CONVERGENCE showcases the issues that exist at the intersection of education, workforce development, and economic prosperity. The 2008 theme is INNOVATION, EDUCATION AND COLLABORATION. American innovation is critical to compete in our competitive global economy. Success is dependent upon a well prepared workforce employed in a spectrum of occupations – from scientists and engineers to technologists and carpenters. And this workforce will be trained in a variety of ways, from advance degrees to apprenticeships and on-the-job training. CONVERGENCE 2008 will showcase the knowledge and skills necessary for our region to succeed in the Innovation Economy. As important, CONVERGENCE 2008 will showcase the innovations that are taking place in education – K-12, community college and higher education – to prepare students for success in any career they choose. Education leaders, regional city planners, economic development
agency staff, entrepreneurs in emerging industries, our elected
representatives, and employers in all industries need to champion
our region’s efforts to grow competitively and prepare our
